From Paper to Digital: The HR Transformation at Club Atlético Lanús

Club Atlético Lanús is a sports institution with over a hundred years of history that decided to leave paper behind, digitize its HR management, and connect 400 employees on a single platform: Humand.

A club with history and traditional processes

Club Atlético Lanús has history, scale, and a large, dispersed internal community. What it lacked, until recently, was an efficient way to manage it and help it stay connected.

Payslips were printed, signed by hand, and delivered in person. The HR team’s schedule did not always align with employees’ working hours, and some staff members ended up accumulating two years’ worth of unsigned payslips. Meanwhile, on the tennis courts, the administrative manager walked across all fourteen courts carrying stacks of payslips and a pen. Medical certificates had to be submitted in person, at the office, during working hours. If someone needed to send a medical certificate on a weekend, they had to wait until the next business day. On top of that, vacation requests were handled with paper forms, and personnel files lived in physical folders.

Internal communication was no easier. With more than thirty disciplines, staff spread across different shifts and locations, getting important news or updates to everyone at the same time was a slow, manual process.

The decision to modernize

The HR team knew it was time for a change and launched a transformation process with the support of the board of directors. The requirement was straightforward: everything in one place. Digital payslips, attendance tracking, internal communication, digital personnel files.

“They did not want separate tools solving separate problems. They wanted a single platform that could centralize everything the team needed. Humand was the option that met those requirements. ”

Humand in the club’s day-to-day

Today, 400 employees coexist on Humand. That includes a wide range of profiles, from administrative staff and coaches to maintenance workers and seasonal employees (such as those working the summer camp and pool season) who can be activated and deactivated according to the club’s calendar. Some of the most notable uses:

  • Documents and payslips: As soon as payroll is processed, the payslip is available in the app for each employee to sign digitally. The HR team can access it at any time without searching through folders or depending on anyone’s physical presence. All employee documentation is also centralized and instantly available in a digital personnel file.
  • Time tracking with facial recognition: The club introduced a tablet with facial recognition for clock-ins and clock-outs. The HR team accesses real-time data, something that was more complex with the previous fingerprint system.
  • Medical leave: If an employee gets sick, they can upload their medical certificate through the app that same day. HR receives it immediately and can plan accordingly.
  • Vacation requests: Employees can check their available vacation days and submit requests directly from the app, without having to ask HR how many days they have left.
  • Internal Communication and Social Feed: News reaches everyone at the same time, regardless of which facility or court they are at. The feed also works as a community space where birthdays, event photos, and shout-outs are shared. In a club where many people work in different areas without ever crossing paths, that digital space started building connections that did not exist before.

A digitization that’s here to stay

“We chose Humand because we needed all documentation in one place, digital payslip delivery, attendance tracking with its metrics, and we found all of that in a single platform.”
