Pampa Energía: a platform connecting people, businesses, and locations

With more than 2,000 employees spread across different provinces, plants, offices, and oil and gas fields, connecting such diverse realities was one of Pampa Energía’s biggest challenges. With Humand, the company transformed its internal communications into a more accessible, immediate, and participatory space, where everyone can share their own experience.

The challenge of connecting very different realities

Diversity is part of Pampa Energía’s day-to-day operations. Different businesses, teams, and ways of working coexist within the same company, with employees distributed across Mendoza, Salta, Neuquén, Buenos Aires, Zárate, Ensenada, Barragán, Bahía Blanca, Puerto General San Martín, and other locations.

This geographic dispersion created a particular challenge for the Internal Communications team: enabling someone working at a thermal power plant in Salta to learn about and understand the experience of a colleague working at an oil and gas field in Neuquén, and vice versa.

In addition, the communication model was mainly one-way. Information was created by specific areas and shared with employees, but there were fewer opportunities for employees themselves to tell their own stories, share their projects, and talk about their experiences.

The challenge was not only to distribute information, but to build a shared experience among people who, despite being part of the same organization, could be hundreds of kilometers apart and working in completely different contexts.

From one-way communication to a connected community

Pampa Energía implemented Humand with one main goal: to bring people closer together and democratize communication across the organization. With the platform, communication stopped depending exclusively on a specific area. Today, any employee can express themselves, share an experience, or showcase a project, regardless of their location or seniority.

This new dynamic made it possible to move from a one-way model to a multidirectional one, where stories can be told directly by the people who experience them. Having an app with an experience similar to the platforms people use in their everyday lives also made communication more immediate, interactive, and accessible.

For the Human Resources and Internal Communications teams, Humand also made it possible to better segment messages, send mass communications instantly, and generate interaction around content that had previously been static.

Some of the modules and features Pampa Energía highlights the most are:

  • Internal Communications: the feed brings together a large part of the company’s key posts and communications, while also allowing employees to create their own content.
  • News: a dedicated space for sharing updates related to Pampa Energía’s different business areas.
  • Marketplace: allows employees to post and exchange products within the community.
  • Recognition: designed around a 360° approach, allowing anyone to recognize a colleague, leader, or team member regardless of hierarchy.
  • Content Libraries: information is segmented so that each person can easily access the resources they need in their day-to-day work.
  • Access hub: Pampa Energía turned Humand into a central point where employees can access different content and resources across the organization.

Humand enabled Pampa Energía to build a space where people can actively participate and give a voice to what is happening across the company.

More than 95% of employees active on the platform

Today, everyone working at Pampa Energía has access to Humand. From day one, the platform is part of the onboarding process, allowing every new employee to join the company’s main communication channel from the very beginning.

Adoption reflects the role the platform has gained within the organization: more than 95% of users are active, and usage levels remain high.

After nearly two years of implementation, Pampa Energía’s next challenge is to continue evolving the experience and developing new strategies to drive even greater participation.

The goal is for Humand not to be perceived as a tool driven solely by Human Resources, but as a space that every person and area across the organization can embrace as their own.

“Before Humand, managing communication was mainly one-way. We moved toward a more democratic way of managing communication, where everyone can give a voice to their experiences.”
