The search for the right fit

The sunset of their previous platform gave LHL a chance to raise the bar. After evaluating three vendors, Humand stood out in terms of features, implementation process, and pricing that worked for a non-profit.

The organization partnered with Humand through Hu for Good, Humand’s program for non-profits and NGOs. In Jacqui Tomsett’s words, LHL’s Director of People & Culture, the implementation was “efficient, effective, excellent.”

With a dedicated account manager guiding the entire process and the Humand team responsive at every step, LHL has been able to make the most of the platform from day one.

Where work comes together

For a team spread across Great Britain, having everything in one place isn’t a nice-to-have. It’s what makes sure everyone can do their best work. Humand became that place through:

  • Company policies that now live in one place, always current, accessible to everyone, leaving behind the shared folder that required manual updates and email notifications.
  • A Knowledge Library that makes content easy to add, reorder, and view instantly, becoming a reliable go-to for quick reference.
  • Surveys that are now a key part of how LHL listens to its people, covering a wide range of topics from IT strategy to recruitment and retention.
  • Quick links that centralize access to other systems, making it easier for the team to navigate their workday.
“I would recommend Humand to another organization. And you don’t do that lightly. You have to really believe in the system to be able to do that.”

Culture finds a home

Keeping a remote team connected goes beyond shared documents and efficient processes. It takes moments, big and small, that remind people they’re part of something meaningful. Humand has helped LHL create and celebrate those moments.

  • Forms have turned LHL’s Living Values nomination process from something easy to overlook into something visible and consistent. Staff members fill out their nominations directly in the app, and they go straight to HR.
  • The organization is also using the recognition feature to identify top contributors from the office and the field, who get nominated automatically for an award.
  • Birthdays and Anniversaries bring visibility to moments that might otherwise go unnoticed, turning individual milestones into something the whole team can come together to celebrate.

A platform that took root

Since launching, LHL has built a platform that its people genuinely use and value. And they’re just getting started: groups like Pet Squad, Foodies, and Music Masters, made possible by how intuitive the platform is, point to a team that’s actively expanding how they use Humand to bring more efficiency to their workday, but also to strengthen the bonds between the people behind it.
