How Dia Spain connects its store, warehouse, and office teams

With employees distributed across stores, warehouses, and offices, Dia Spain needed to transform its internal communications to reach every person in a more direct, agile, and measurable way. With Humand, the company launched a mobile-first experience that brings together news, information, and everyday tools in a single app.

The challenge of transforming an outdated communication model

Before Humand, Dia Spain had a fully custom-built employee portal. It was used to publish news and articles and provided access to external tools.

Over time, however, this level of customization became a limitation. The internal team could not make changes to the platform independently, and every update required going back to the provider, modifying the code, and purchasing additional development hours.

In addition, the mobile app and web version had to be configured separately, duplicating tasks, costs, and implementation times.

This situation created three major challenges:

  • A digital gap that limited reach mainly to office-based employees.
  • Information that could become outdated compared with the pace of day-to-day operations.
  • A lack of traceability that made it difficult to measure the real impact of communications.

The main challenge was reaching frontline teams. Due to the nature of their roles, many store and warehouse employees do not regularly use a computer or have a corporate email address.

Dia needed a modern, flexible, mobile-accessible solution that could reach the entire organization.

From a static portal to “Todo Dia en tu app”

After evaluating different alternatives on the market, Dia chose Humand to move toward a standardized platform that was easy to manage and capable of continuously incorporating improvements.

The new experience was launched under a clear concept: “Todo Dia en tu app.”

Although Humand can also be accessed through the web, Dia chose to position it primarily as a mobile app: a space available 24/7, from anywhere, directly in the palm of every employee’s hand.

The platform became a single point of entry for corporate information, self-service tools, and everyday processes. Even when certain tasks continue to be managed through other systems, employees can access them directly through Humand’s shortcuts.

The experience was built around four pillars: agile communication, simplicity, recognition, and listening.

Knowledge Libraries provide access to policies, benefits, and permanent resources. The News module centralizes the company’s formal communications. Shortcuts connect employees with other workplace tools, while the Wall & Groups module provides a more dynamic and approachable space to share updates, while also allowing content to be segmented by team, location, or interest.

A launch designed to build connection

The arrival of Humand was introduced to Dia Spain’s teams through a launch event that marked the beginning of a new stage in the company’s internal communications. More than simply announcing a new tool, the event gave employees the opportunity to discover the platform and introduced the concept “Todo Dia en tu app”: a single point of connection for accessing news, information, and tools from anywhere.

The implementation was supported by a progressive strategy focused on encouraging user registration, communicating the platform’s benefits, and increasing engagement. Around 2,000 people registered during the first month, and just a few weeks later that number had grown to approximately 6,000 registered users, eventually reaching 11,000 active users organically before the company discontinued its former employee portal—all within just three months.

The beginning of a new way to communicate

Just a few weeks after launch, Humand had already begun transforming the way Dia connects with its teams.

The company went from publishing content without being able to accurately understand its impact to having real-time indicators on reach, usage, and reactions. This makes it possible to understand how employees interact with communications and make decisions based on concrete data.

Humand represents the beginning of a more immediate, mobile-first communication model that is better connected to the reality of day-to-day operations. Employees can access information, news, and tools from a single space, while internal teams gain greater autonomy to manage and segment their communications.

Next steps include introducing surveys, new interaction capabilities, and the launch of the Recognition module. The vision is to turn Humand into a shared space that brings the entire organization together and becomes the main point of connection throughout the employee experience.

“The goal is clear: to make the closeness that makes us unique on the street part of the way we work internally as well. This app is the technological lever that enables us to truly be there for our people; the space where conversation flows and where, from now on, everything happens.”

With Humand, Dia Spain did not simply launch a new app, but a new way of connecting with all its employees.
