More Relevance, Less Noise: A Smarter Way to Manage Notifications

Index

With Humand’s new group notification settings, every employee can decide which updates to receive—helping your teams reduce noise, stay informed, and focus on what truly matters.

Finding Balance in the Flow of Information

In today’s digital workplace, collaboration happens across multiple channels—project groups, communities, and internal communication spaces. While this creates transparency and connection, it can also lead to information overload.

When employees receive too many notifications, even the most important updates risk being overlooked. That’s why Humand introduces a new way to manage communication flow: group-level notification control within the Notification Center.

This enhancement helps organizations keep communication relevant, purposeful, and aligned with their internal communication strategy.

What’s New

The new Group Notification Settings give every team member control over how and when they stay informed.

Here’s what’s included:

  • Per-group notification control: Turn notifications on or off for each group directly in the Notification Center.

  • Available for all users: Both admins and members can personalize their preferences.

  • Focused alerts: Applies to new posts and comments on a user’s own content, ensuring only relevant updates appear.

  • Essential alerts always active: @Mentions continue to trigger notifications to maintain direct communication.

  • Enabled by default: Notifications start on for all groups, maintaining current consistency.

  • Web-first configuration: Preferences are set from the web platform and automatically sync with mobile NC.

This feature was designed to make internal communication smarter, not louder.

Why It Matters

Strong internal communication depends on more than frequent updates—it requires relevance, timing, and context.
By giving employees control over their notifications, organizations can achieve:

  • Clearer and more targeted communication: Messages reach the right people at the right time.

  • Less digital noise: Employees focus on the most relevant channels and discussions.

  • Personalized information flow: Each person chooses what to follow, creating a more meaningful experience.

  • Better data on engagement: Communication metrics reflect real interaction and interest.

  • A healthier digital workplace: Reduced noise supports well-being, focus, and connection.

This update reinforces Humand’s vision of an employee experience platform that adapts to each organization’s communication culture.

How Teams Are Using It

These real-world examples show how the new settings help companies create more efficient communication environments:

  • “Too many channels?” → Adjust notifications to focus on the ones that really matter.

  • “Need to highlight key company updates?” → Keep alerts active only for official communication spaces.

  • “Want to reduce noise during peak periods?” → Temporarily mute non-priority groups.

  • “Launching new projects?” → Make sure members turn on notifications for relevant updates.

  • “Encouraging focus and digital well-being?” → Empower teams to manage their own information flow.

This flexibility allows organizations to maintain connection without overwhelming communication.

The group notification settings are now available for all organizations using Humand.
