New Control for Video Downloads: Keep Your Content Secure
You can now decide who can download videos shared across your platform. With a single setting in the Admin Panel, organizations have more control over how video content is distributed—enhancing privacy and content protection.
Why This Matters
Whether you’re sharing internal updates, onboarding materials, or recognition videos, not all content is meant to be downloaded.
This feature gives admins the ability to control whether community users can download videos—directly from the Admin Panel. It’s a small toggle, but it brings greater governance over what happens with your content once it’s published.
For organizations managing sensitive or proprietary content, this can make a big difference.
What’s New
From the Admin Panel, you can now:
- Decide whether users in your community can download uploaded videos.
- Apply this setting globally to the following modules: Feed, Groups, News, Knowledge Libraries, Onboarding, Kudos, and Marketplace.
- Rest assured that Training will always block downloads due to the nature of the content.
- Note: Embedded videos (e.g., YouTube) are not affected by this setting.
- The setting only affects the Web version—video downloads are not available on Mobile.
- By default, downloads are enabled for all communities—you can switch it off anytime from Settings > General > Permissions > “Allow video download”.
🛑 The only exception where video download remains active is for users with permission to host livestreams—and only for the recordings of those sessions.
See It in Action
Here are a few real-world examples:
“We’re sharing internal leadership updates—can we stop downloads?” → Yes, turn the toggle off from your Admin Panel.
“Our mobile users—can they download too?” → No, this setting only affects Web. Mobile doesn’t support video downloads.
“What about videos embedded from YouTube?” → These aren’t impacted. The control applies only to videos uploaded to Humand.
“We record livestreams—can hosts download those?” → Yes, but only if they hosted the stream and have the right permissions.
Try It Out
This update is already live in your platform.
If you’re just getting to know Humand, it’s one more way we help organizations maintain control and flexibility at every touchpoint.
Head to Settings > General in the Admin Panel to turn video downloads on or off—with one click.
