New Poll Options: Set Deadlines and Choose to Show or Hide Voters

Index

We’ve added two key updates to help you manage polls more efficiently: you can now set deadlines for voting and choose whether voters are visible or anonymous

These new features give you more control, improve transparency, help teams manage engagement, and protect the accuracy of poll results.

Why We Launched These Updates

Polls are a powerful tool for collecting feedback and making decisions, but customers shared two common needs:

  • Control participation time to prevent polls from staying open indefinitely.
  • Decide on the privacy level of who voted for each option.

To address these requests, we’ve released two new features that give you more flexibility and customization when managing polls.

Feature 1: Set Deadlines for Polls

What It Does

With the new “Set End Time” option, poll creators can define a specific date and time until which users can vote.

Key capabilities:

  • Set clear deadlines: Choose the exact date and time when voting closes.
  • Set real-time countdowns for users and display the remaining time to respond
  • Automatic poll closure: Once the deadline is reached, the poll will display “Poll closed.”
  • Optional setting: Enable deadlines only when needed.
  • Full flexibility: Even after publishing the poll, you still can update, remove or add a new deadline.

Key Benefits

  • More control: Decide exactly when you want to close voting.
  • Greater transparency: Participants always know how much time they have to vote.
  • Better insights: Gather relevant data within a defined timeframe.
  • Full flexibility: Enable, edit, or remove deadlines whenever you need.

Feature 2: Show or Hide Voters in Polls

What It Does

Until now, all polls were anonymous by default: users could see the number of votes but not who voted. With the new “Show/Hide Voters” setting, post creators can now choose whether voter identities are visible or hidden.

Key capabilities:

  • Anonymous mode (default):
    • Users see total votes per option but not who voted.
    • A message clarifies: “Your name will be hidden and not visible to other voters.”
  • Visible mode:
    • Users can see both the total votes and the collaborators who voted for each option.
  • This setting can only be changed if the poll hasn’t received any votes yet.

Key Benefits

  • Privacy by default: Keep voter identities hidden to protect sensitive opinions and reduce social pressure.
  • Transparency when needed: Make voters visible for decisions that require accountability and open alignment.
  • Flexible governance: Choose anonymity or visibility poll-by-poll to match internal policies.
  • Targeted follow-ups: When voters are visible, it’s easier to coordinate next steps with the right people or groups.

Use Cases: Polls in action

Wondering how these updates help in day-to-day operations? Here are a few examples:

  • “We want everyone to understand how decisions are made.”
  • → Enable show voters so participants can see who supported each option.
  • “We want internal polls to remain fully confidential.”
→ Keep the hidden voters setting active to ensure responses stay anonymous.
  • “I want to keep the poll open for only 30 minutes to make a quick decision.”
→ Set a short voting deadline to speed up the decision-making process.

Start using it today and optimize the way you collect insights and make decisions.
